We should sell blankets!

We love blankets, the feeling of curling up underneath one at the end of the day or on a rainy day at the weekend, a cup of tea beside you and a little treat to nibble on is brilliant. We went to buy some new blankets recently on the web and discovered how consuming they can be. “We should sell blankets!” was the cry Nichola came out with last weekend when we went to curl up together one evening underneath one. We are in the process of defining what we should and shouldn’t sell as part of our range and at this point, anything has a chance of making it into the list of things we love.

It is difficult to turn what we both instinctively feel as the right things for Hectors Farm into a definition of the reality of what we offer. We are going through a process of suggesting the right things and then working out how they all fit together to form what we both feel is right. In business terms, it is defining the brand, in our terms, it is delivering what we want Hectors Farm to be for everyone. We want to make sure that the right products and services are offered and presented to the people who will enjoy them for the right reasons and stay in tune with our beliefs. We don’t want to have to give in on those beliefs to satisfy some rules for how things should be according to other people. We want to bring an approach to Hectors Farm that people look at and appreciate that it represents us in a true fashion and not something that we have sold out on to get somewhere. And if that comes at a cost of greater success, I think we will both feel that it’s ok and we have achieved what we wanted to.

It would be easy for us to copy other people and produce a natural living store that sells all the same things all the others do. Or a health spa in the country that charges an enormous fee for lifestyle services that don’t deserve it. We are intent on keeping to what we believe in and getting out of Hectors Farm what we put into it.
